Warmest of welcomes! I am a seasoned speech-language pathologist, communication expert, and violence prevention specialist combining 25 years of clinical speech-language pathology experience with a life-long passion for nonviolence, social justice, and meditation. My vast clinical experience includes evaluating, diagnosing, and providing a range of speech therapy services for preschoolers through adults in settings including private practice, public schools and online charter schools via teletherapy.  My expertise includes a specialization in treating children of all ages, as well as both training and working alongside parents and guardians. As the folks that understand their children best, family participation maximizes potential and progress!

As a Violence Prevention Specialist with a graduate degree in peace education from the United Nations mandated University for Peace, I have created comprehensive and individualized curriculum to increase the safety, social-emotional skills, wellness, and self-empowerment of elementary through college-aged students. This includes the creation and implementation of the first violence prevention curriculum at Western Oregon University. Through participating in the programming, students reported marked changes in attitudes, skills, and behaviors. This led to both measurably decreased violence and an increased sense of well-being and safety on university campuses.

As a dedicated practitioner of meditation for 20 years, including robust training in Theravadan (Insight) and mindfulness-based practices, I have offered age appropriate meditation instruction in a range of settings, including elementary schools and colleges. At the elementary school level, I created and piloted an eight-week violence prevention curriculum focused on mindfulness meditation, bullying prevention, compassionate communication, nonviolent conflict resolution, and emotional regulation skills. This resulted in enhanced learning, safety, empathy, and more harmonious relationships both in and outside of the classroom. I wholeheartedly believe that teaching these skills to our youth is essential in not only ensuring their emotional well-being and relationship with themselves, but in empowering them to create and choose healthy relationships as they continue to develop into adolescents and young adults.

At Speech for Peace, I have coupled my unwavering passions for helping students develop their self expression with my desire for a sustainable culture of peace. The overarching belief that violence is learned and can be unlearned deeply informs all of the programming.

When I'm not working on this passion project, I cannot get enough of dance, nature walks in the redwoods, live music, and travel near and far. I so look forward to working, dreaming, and playing together as we plant the seeds of peace one moment at a time.
